about

this song is a bit of a departure for me, stylistically speaking. I wasn't at all sure how best to record it, so I sought help from Jesse Edbrooke of Transition, who helped me to develop the melody and arrangement of the song, and spent hours producing, editing, listening, and generally being very patient... thank you, Jesse!

lyrics

I hear voices 'round the way,
but I don't believe what they say
telling me time will heal our wounds
when our time comes and goes too soon

my spirit's an opening flower and Your song is the rain
I'm thirsting to hear You, sing to me over and over and over again

I know I'm not here for long
maybe even tomorrow I'll be gone
we shiver and sway like grass in the breeze
then fall to the ground like the leaves from the trees
and what will become of us then?
leaving the old ways behind,
clutching to hope, yeah clinging on blind

but I know the tears shall be washed away
and I know the last shall be first
and I know that death has no hold on me
for I know You have broken the curse

my spirit's an opening flower and Your song is the rain
I'm thirsting to hear You, sing to me over and over and over again

watching as daylight fades
and the night rolls in like a wave
I long to sleep, sweetly sleep
with my head in the lap of the sea
safe in the arms of eternity
safe in the arms of the one that I love
safe in Your arms
safe in the arms of the one who loves me

my heart is breaking all over, and Your song is the healer
and I'm longing to hear You sing over me,
I'm longing to hear You sing, la la la lai

how good it is to be loved by You
how good it is to be held tight
how good it is to belong to You
all that I want is to be with You
